Heat Damage For Dummies.

“I was scared of heat damage so I didn’t use a high temperature on my flat iron.”

Then WHY did you do it in the first place? That’s my question.

My mother always told me “Don’t half ass anything, if you’re going to do something do it 100% or not at all”.

If heat scares you that muc,h then hush up about it and leave heat the hell alone. Don’t continue to annoy everyone else WHO knows what they’re doing to let US know that you don’t know what you’re doing.

Don’t sit back and make it seem like you know what to do but just don’t want to, be real and say I don’t know how to use heat in my hair. Don’t get on YouTube make a video & “Flat iron your hair” when what your showing the viewer looks like you blewdry you’re hair, brushed it down, and kept it pushing. That’s FLASE advertisement.

And another thing, you just put heat in your hair for absolutely NO REASON if you’re not going to do it the right way.

Y’all wanna know what inspired this post? THIS VIDEO.

I’m a big fan of Herbal Essences products, I love them, they’re the best, no one can touch them.

Period.

First product I’m going to talk about is the None Of Your Frizzness Leave-In Conditioner. I LOVE IT! Now here’s my little story!

After I straighten my hair, I like to put in either olive oil or leave-in conditioner before I wash my hair.

So I had purchased the None Of Your Frizzness Leave-In Conditioner and decided I was going to put it in my hair before my wash.

I start applying the conditioner and walk out the bathroom……when I walked back in, I had big fabulous curls. I don’t know how I did it, but I DID! So I loved that whole expierence.

The None Of Your Frizzness Leave-in Conditioner smells VERY good (like most Herbal Essences Products) and has a mild lingering smell. Unlike other products that smell like you’ve sprayed a bottle of perfume up your nose hours after you’ve used it.

It’s very good at moisturizing and like most Herbal Essences products it does what it says it’ll do.

It leaves your hair creamy smooth, without weighing it down, and keeps MOST (not all) of the frizzies away.

Along with the Herbal Essences None Of Your Frizzness Leave-In Conditioner, I also purchased the shampoo.

The shampoo wasn’t SUPER DUPER moisturizing but was JUST RIGHT for my hair.

After the wash my curls were perfect and I had absolutely no frizz! I’m not big on keeping frizz away, mostly because I think it’s sexy to have some frizz but also because I’m lazy and like really….come on.

I didn’t purchase the conditioner but when I do…TRUST my review will be all up in hurr!!

I absolutely love this peeling mask.

From Queen Helene. It’s the Grape Seed Extract Peel Off Mask.

It smells very good. Just like grape of course. And it does it’s job.

Because it’s full of antioxidants it helps keep the skin healthy, young, and helps fight against bacteria in the skin.

I definately recommend this to anyone with serious blackheads or anyone who wants to do a somewhat thorough cleaning of the skin.

That’s Why Your Hair Dont Grow

As most of you should already know, my blog is about helping those with natural hair by giving them tips and tricks to help make their life a bit easier.

I love natural hair and will always support it. But alot of you seem to keep your heads in the clouds and not face reality when it comes to caring for it.

With that being said let me begin.

When MOST women start their natural hair journey they are only thinking about two things. Length and health.

The main reason most women go natural is because they feel like being natural will allow their hair to grow long and beautiful and all their cares in the world will vanish, because they have long hair and nothing else matters in life. “Long hair, don’t care” mind frame basically.

Here’s the problem. Y’all do too damn much to achieve that.

I’ve watched a couple of women on YouTube start their hair journey, get all happy about their hair growth and then all of a sudden their hair stops growing the way it use to and they don’t know why.

It’s all that “protective styling”. When your constantly tightening, braiding, weaving and hiding your hair it’s goes into shock and will stop growing AND it’s also breaking off.

Just because you have natural hair doesn’t mean you can’t get breakage from styling.

Alot of you are CONSTANTLY doing twist, twist outs, braids, weaves, wigs, all this “protective styling” that supposed to help your hair grow and then are looking around stuck on stupid when you see no changes in the length of your hair.

Your doing waay to damn much and your hair is not able to do what it needs to do. All this “protective” styling every other day is stress on your hair.

It’s not only combing your hair when it’s dry or towel drying it that puts stress on your hair. It’s also always having your damned hands in your hair.

I really want to use a few natural haired women on YouTube for example but I won’t put them out there like that. But most of you already know the ones I’m talking about.

The ones who’s hair never seems to change/grow and are sitting back trying to tell you what to do with YOUR hair, you listen and do the same thing as them and then later on you’re both in the same boat wondering, “Why won’t my hair grow?”. Like I said before your doing too much.

Just like anything on this planet you can have too much of something. And that’s what most of you fail to realize. You’re so worried about heat damage and sleeping with a silk scarf you’re forgetting about everything else.

Now I bet your saying “Well (enter natural hair YouTuber here) always does twist, braids and twist outs”. Okay but ask yourself this “How many times a week do they do that?”.

Proper “protective styling” is putting a certain style such as braids and twist in your hair and not having to worry about messing in it for a while.

Most folk with natural hair who are always with their hands in their hair won’t see as much growth in their hair as someone who doesn’t always mess around in their hair.

Figure out what you can do with your hair, that will prevent you from having to mess around in it every other day. It’s okay to get braids but get them so that you won’t have to mess around in your hair for at least two months, then you’ll see substantial growth.

Another thing that bothers me, don’t be scared of heat. I know that alot of you have had bad experiences with it (which I can’t understand, it’s not that hard to avoid heat damage) and that you would rather stop your growth by doing non-heat required styles. It’s a lose-lose situation.

I know, I don’t have to wear the hair on your head, so I shouldn’t really be concerned, but I also don’t want to always hear you bitching & groaning about how your hair won’t grow.

Using heat can be very helpful In growing your hair. I know it’s helped me. I straighten my hair and will wear it that way for almost two weeks and if it happens to poof up I put a headband on and wear a curly fro. It’s really not that hard.

Another thing. You don’t have to use everything in your kitchen in your hair!! I see this ALL THE TIME.

For example: “I put ketchup in my hair before I wash it, then when I finish I massage it w/ mayonaise, then after I rinse out the mayonaise & put eggs and bacon in it, I let it sit for like a hour, then I rinse that out & put in kool-aid, After I put in the kool aid, I might..maybe, shingle my hair with some BBQ sauce, if I do that I make sure to include some vanilla extract. After that I deepthroat a bottle of olive oil and put some fertilizer non-maneur on my hairline, make sure it doesn’t have mineral oil though, then after THAT I rub charcoal on my asshole to make sure my curls are defined, then I shove three large eggs up my vagina to keep the curl pattern intact. Do four backflips, put a drop of tea tree oil in my belly button and I’m done”.

ALL THAT IS UNECESSARY!

Just go down to Wal-Mart and buy a product that will give you the same damn results as all of that mess. You put all that stuff in your hair to have it only last you a hour or less.

And having a bunch of oils and spices in your hair isn’t good for your scalp it can clog your follicles and prevent growth.

Stop being scared of name brand products. Name brand products are not the devil. I personally feel like most naturals with the “I only use natural products” mentality only do that just so they can say it as if it means anything.

Don’t sit back and act like natural products are all good and can do no wrong. There is poison in nature honey don’t forget.

I put name brand products and natural products on the same pedestal. Some may work and some won’t. Some will eff up your hair and some won’t. And honestly I’ve had a much better experience with name brand products than with natural products.

In conclusion, keep your hands out your hair if you want to see any type of growth, don’t be afraid of heat and learn how to use heat protectant, and last but not least, find a product no matter if it’s natural or non-natural that works for you.

Leave comments, tell me your thoughts. I’m done.
